Meet our staff in Kusadasi port. After a 15 minutes journey we reach to Selcuk town where the Ephesus Antic City located.
Ephesus is the place where you can bare witness the way Ephesians' daily was life like about 2000 years ago during the heydays of Grece-romans.
We commence our trip with The temple of Artemis which is known as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. It had been built in the areas of Ephesus on a flat area.Today one can only see the ruins of the foundations of this marvelous construction of the Hellenistic Age, entirely made of marble and full of sculptured columns' capitals and shafts. The most beautiful remaining of this temple are today exhibited in the British Museum,London.
There were three entrances to Ephesus; the Koressos Gate (at the back of the Stadium),the Harbour Gate and the The Magnesian Gate where we will enter Ephesus ancient city from that will enable us to walk easily downhill.
Great Theater which is the Roman reconstruction of the earlier theater built by Lysimachus with 25,000 seats, excellent acoustics. It's still used for performances and special events at present.
Arcadian Way(Harbour street)
The avenue leading from the theater to the harbour was a grand affair, with
colonnades, fountains, monuments and even street lights along it, and water and
drainage conduits beneath its marble paving stones.
Marble Way, Commercial Agora, Brothel,
and Library of Celsus
A wonder, with double walls to keep out
the damp and moderate the extremes of temperature, it is also perhaps the most
beautiful building at Ephesus. To the right is the Gate of Augustus,
a monumental arch leading to the Commercial Agora.
Curetes Way
This splendid hillside street, starting in front of the Library of Celsus, is
longer and even more interesting than the Arcadian Way.
On the way we will see the Hillside(Terrace) Houses where the rich
Ephesians’ families resided.(There is an additional fee for this site and not
included in the main entrance fee)
Temple of Hadrian
The head of Medusa is the most famous bit of decoration on
this fine temple built in 118 AD to honor Emperor Hadrian.
Gate of Hercules
The two-storey structure half-way along the street dates from the 300s AD. A
side street leads south to the Museum of Inscriptions.
Odeon (Odeum)
Ephesus's city council met in this fine small theater-like council space.
When we finish this legendary site we head to a local restaurant to have our lunch and have some rest after a long and tiring walking tour. After lunch we drive up to Bulbul mountain to visit the House of Virgin Mary where she spent her last days.
We continue to Isa Bey Mosque which is one of the most delicate examples of Seljukian architecture, situated below the basilica of Saint John. When we finish the tour we take you back to Izmir airport for your domestic flight to Istanbul.Upon your arrival in Istanbul airport after one hour flight you will be met and transfered to you hotel in Istanbul.
